STARTS Saturday, June 4  ~ Pick up the Summer Reading Challenge form that's right for the age of your child, finish it, and bring it back to the Library by August 13th to earn prizes!  Kids and teens read for time -- record your time on the form that matches your age.  The Library has four age levels of Summer Reading for children and youth:

  • Read-Aloud Chart (ages 0 to 4);
  • Junior Reading & Activity Log (ages 5 to 9);
  • Tween Reading Log (ages 10 to 12); and
  • Teen Reading Log (ages 13-19).

One age level per person per summer, and only one set of prizes per person per summer, throughout Lancaster County....

DEATH CAFE - Consider the Conversation

Saturday, June 4 @ 1:00 - 4:00 PM. At a Death Cafe people gather to eat cake and cookies, drink tea or coffee and discuss death. Our objective is "to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives."  A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a social gathering and discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. It is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages students to enhance and develop basic search methodologies.
